Hello Football Families!

I hope this email finds you well.

The close of the Wedge Season is tomorrow with football having the last two events!

The JV Team will host Xavarian at 10am tomorrow. Family members with their lanyards are allowed into the game. Please remember to stay masked for the entire event and if sitting in the bleachers you sit on a green piece of tape. This allows us to follow all of the rules and regulations that allow us to have spectators. Thank you.

The Varsity Team will travel to Bellingham for a 5pm kickoff. Bellingham allows 2 adult spectators for each rostered player on both teams. Please have your Medway Wedge Season lanyard for easy check-in at Bellingham. Medway fans are asked to sit in the bleachers behind our team (across from the press box). If you are unable to make it to the game, it will be broadcast on

BOTH TEAMS: after your games, you will come into the school to turn in all of your football equipment. Everything issued by the school needs to be returned in order for it to be picked up next week for reconditioning, cleaning and safety inspection. Please make sure you have everything with you to turn in after your games.

If you own your helmet, please make sure your name is written inside the helmet with a sharpie so we know what helmets are self-owned. All helmets must be recertified each year. We will pay for you to have your helmet recertified as long as it goes out with all the rest of them…so please turn your helmet in after your game. People who own their own helmets, please put your helmet on the middle M in the gym. Keep them separate from the rest.

Best of luck in your final games of the season. GO MUSTANGS!!

Hello Medway Football Families!

I hope this email finds you well. What a great opening weekend for our Mustangs!

I am sharing some positive news in regards to spectators. Please see the email Dr. Murray just sent me…

Dear Jeff,

This morning, I followed up to the email that you sent to the TVL AD’s requesting a change in our league’s outside visitor spectator policy. In an email to the TVL president and member principals, I also requested that we amend our outside spectator policy. As you know, this request comes on the heels of a football injury that occurred at our home game on Friday evening. We were fortunate that the parent of the injured player was on the premises and was able to be with his son as emergency personnel tended to his needs. Nonetheless, we both felt it was important to request that at least one if not two adult family members be allowed to attend outside away contests.

I am happy to report that the TVL principals agreed with our request for a change in the outdoor policy. Going forward, each school will determine the number of adult visiting spectators that can be accommodated at their facility. Our next outside away event is at Bellingham High School for a Track meet on Wednesday. Please coordinate with AD Connor at Bellingham regarding their capacity for our adult visitors. Please share this information with our Track families. In addition, please begin coordination for our upcoming away football games and share the communication with Football families.

Thank you for your help in coordinating this effort.

Dear Medway Football Parents,

I was in attendance at the football game on Friday night. I was saddened to see a member of the Millis football team sustain an injury that required the support of an ambulance and hospitalization. As a parent myself, I was terrified to think that the rules that we have in place would prevent a parent from being on the premises to be there for their child. Thankfully, a parent was present outside of the fence and was able to join their child at the hospital. I’m happy to report that the player is now home and is expected to make a full recovery.

Over the past few days, I have heard from parents about their concerns with the TVL away spectator policy. This afternoon, I sent the email below to the TVL president. After my email, we exchanged texts and will organize a conversation with the TVL principals later this week to discuss further. Jeff Parcells shared a similar email with league AD’s. I’ve also spoken with Dr. Pires who shares all of our concerns. In short, I will advocate for at least one parent (but hopefully both) to attend away games across the TVL. I will share updates with you as they become available.

Thank you for your continued feedback and support!

Hi Evan,

At the Medway-Millis football game at Medway Friday night. A Millis player was seriously injured and had to be taken to the hospital in an ambulance. His father happened to be there as a spectator outside the fence and was able to go to the hospital with him. I’m glad to report he is recovering.

Several of our parents have expressed concerns to me this weekend about the league’s policy for away game spectators. I share in their concern and would like to address this with the TVL principals. Jeff Parcells has shared our concern with the TVL AD’s. We believe that it is a significant safety concern to not have at least one parent attend away football games in case of an injury. At Medway, we are able to accommodate at least one, if not two visitor parents for our remaining games. I hope we have an opportunity to address this sometime this week.
